What is EGL?

EGL stands for the European Gemological Laboratory.

The president Guy Margel obtained his diploma in Gemology in 1969 at the American Gemological Society. In 1974 he returned to Belgium and opened the first gemological institute in Antwerp, known today as E.G.L. Guy Margel has subsequently opened laboratories in the following cities: Antwerp, New York, Los Angeles, Johannesburg, Windhoek, Istanbul, London, Tel Aviv and Seoul.

EGL's mission is to take the guesswork out of buying diamonds by providing diamond grading consultations and certificates to internationally accepted standards. Their customers are professional diamond wholesalers, retailers, manufactures and craftsmen in the diamond industry.
